Unlike conventional pet-friendly rideshare services, The Pet Taxi® provides personalized assistance that extends well beyond the drive itself.
We don’t simply arrive outside and expect your pet to be waiting at the curb.
With advance arrangements, our team can enter your home, locate your pet in their familiar surroundings, and assist them with preparing for their journey. Whether that means greeting a dog in the living room, carefully helping a senior pet to their feet, or assisting a cat into an appropriate carrier, our service begins where your pet actually is.
We coordinate access through authorized arrangements such as a door code, lockbox, key, family member, or building staff. You don’t necessarily need to be home for your pet to receive transportation.
Upon arrival at the destination, our team provides a carefully coordinated handoff. Depending on the service arranged, this may include accompanying your pet inside a veterinary hospital, assisting with check-in, or ensuring a smooth transition to a grooming salon, daycare, or boarding facility.
And when it’s time to come home?
Our service doesn’t end at your driveway. We help your pet return safely inside your home.
With authorized home access, our team can assist your pet safely back into the house, return them to their designated area, and complete the agreed-upon handoff instructions.

Founded in 2012, The Pet Taxi® was built on a simple observation: many pets require specialized transportation, experienced handling, and personalized care that conventional transportation services are not equipped to provide.
A senior dog who can no longer climb into a vehicle, a large-breed patient recovering from spinal surgery, a frightened rescue dog, or a pet whose owner cannot attend an important veterinary appointment all present different challenges.
Meeting these unique needs requires more than transportation. It demands animal-handling experience, problem-solving, thoughtful preparation, the right equipment, sound judgement, and an understanding of each pet’s individual needs and behavior.
That knowledge is central to our company.
Our leadership and team bring decades of combined hands-on animal experience, including backgrounds in animal rescue, canine training and behavior, veterinary care, nursing, client communications, and specialized animal handling. This depth of experience is the foundation of our personalized approach to pet transportation.
Over the years, our transportation capabilities have expanded to include complex veterinary transfers, orthopedic and neurological patients, senior and nonambulatory pets, recurring rehabilitation appointments, and coordination with veterinary specialty hospitals.

When available for your reservation, this optional feature allows you to follow your pet’s journey and stay informed about their transportation progress.
Our team also communicates directly with pet owners and authorized contacts by phone or text to coordinate pickups, arrivals, and handoffs.
The app is an additional convenience—not a requirement for using our services.
You can book directly through our website or speak with our team without downloading an app.

The Pet Taxi® is not a veterinary ambulance. Patients requiring active medical treatment, continuous monitoring, oxygen, or stabilization during travel need appropriately equipped veterinary medical transportation.
We believe responsible pet transportation means understanding each animal’s needs, recognizing the limits of nonmedical transportation, and always placing the pet’s safety and well-being first. Acceptance of any transportation request is subject to The Pet Taxi®’s determination that the pet can be transported safely within the scope of our nonmedical services, available equipment, and personnel capabilities.

Our longstanding team brings substantial hands-on animal experience, spanning rescue and welfare, canine handling, veterinary care, nursing, and client support. DeAnna, Allan, Robert, Phillip, Sarah, and Cari each bring more than 20 years of experience working with animals.
Our history together is just as meaningful: DeAnna, Allan, and Robert have been with The Pet Taxi® since its founding in 2012, Phillip joined only a few months later, and Cari and Sarah joined in 2015. This continuity supports our consistent, professional approach to specialized transportation and customer service.

DeAnna brings more than two decades of experience working with animals, beginning with animal rescue and welfare organizations in California, Hawaii, and Illinois. Her professional background also includes management experience at Big Dog Ranch Rescue, one of the nation’s largest cage-free, no-kill dog rescue organizations.
Her extensive experience with canine behavior, animal handling, and rescue operations helped shape The Pet Taxi® into a specialized transportation company focused on professionalism, individualized care, and thoughtful handling.
Today, DeAnna leads company operations, service development, and professional partnerships while maintaining the standards that have defined The Pet Taxi® since its founding.

What to Expect When You Book
We believe successful pet transportation begins with preparation and clear communication.
1. Tell us about your pet and where they need to go.
Share the pickup and destination locations, preferred date, and any special circumstances involving your pet’s mobility, temperament, health-related handling restrictions, or appointment requirements.
2. We coordinate a transportation plan.
Our team reviews scheduling, equipment, handling requirements, home access instructions, and appropriate transportation arrangements.
3. We come to your pet.
With authorized access and agreed instructions, we can collect your pet from inside your home and assist them into the vehicle rather than requiring you to bring them curbside.
4. We handle the journey and destination handoff.
Your pet receives private transportation, with appropriate coordination at the destination. Optional GPS tracking and direct communication help you stay informed.
5. We help bring your pet safely home.
For return transportation, we coordinate the drop-off and, when arranged, assist your pet back inside their home or designated area.
It’s a complete transportation experience, not simply a pickup and drop-off.
